wegovy

What is wegovy?

Wegovy is a scientifically proven prescription only medicine now available from our prescribing Pharmacist. It contains Semaglutide which acts like naturally-occurring hormones in your body. These hormones act on your gut and brain to make you feel full more quickly and for longer.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects tend to be mild and short-lived while your body adjusts to the medication and dose. For this reason we increase the dose slowly every month. Common side effects mostly affect the gut for the first few weeks, e.g. nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and bloating.

As experts on medicines, our Pharmacist will advise how to manage Wegovy to suit you best or when to stop using the product if it cannot be tolerated.

How do I use wegovy?

Wegovy is contained in a pen-like injector using a very fine needle it can be inserted gently into the skin on the abdomen, upper arm or thigh. Its is a WEEKLY injection. It is never injected into a vein or muscle. Our Pharmacist will explain how to use the pen.
Wegovy starts at a 0.25mg strength and increases each month or as advised by our prescriber.

Can anyone take wegovy?

As with all medicines there are risks and benefits and there may be some people who are not able to use Wegovy. Our Pharmacist will advise and help you arrive at the best decision for you.

As with all medication, please read the leaflet for more information.
