Saxenda

What is Saxenda?

Saxenda is a scientifically proven prescription only medicine now available from our prescribing Pharmacist. It contains liraglutide which acts like naturally-occurring GLP-1 hormones in your body. These hormones act on your gut and brain to make you feel full more quickly and for longer.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects tend to be mild and short-lived while your body adjusts to the medication and dose. For this reason we increase the dose slowly every week. Common side effects mostly affect the gut for the first few weeks, e.g. nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and bloating.

As experts on medicines, our Pharmacist will advise how to manage Saxenda to suit you best or when to stop using the product if it cannot be tolerated.

How do I use Saxenda?

Saxenda is contained in a pen-like injector using a very fine needle it can be inserted gently into the skin on the abdomen, upper arm or thigh. Its is a DAILY injection. It is never injected into a vein or muscle. Our Pharmacist will explain how to use the pen

Can anyone take Saxenda?
