Reiki

Reiki is a hands-on therapy of Japanese origin, used to aid relaxation and help to reduce anxiety, hot flushes, insomnia, lethargy, pain, sickness, stress and tension. It is often a very relaxing and peaceful treatment, helping to restore a sense of well-being within the body and the mind.

How does Reiki work?

Reiki, meaning ‘universal life energy’ works on the principle that energy (Ki’ or ‘chi’) flows through the body. A balanced flow of energy is said to provide a sense of well-being.

What happens in a Reiki session?

Together with the therapist you will agree what to focus on and what you’d like the reiki session to help you with. During the therapy, universal healing energy is transferred from the practitioner to the client through visualisation and by gently placing hands on or above the body.

You will either lie on a treatment couch, or sit in a reclining chair and the therapist will use light finger pressure or gentle stroking on, or just above certain points on your body.
