Blood Tests – Vitamin Profile (D, B12 & Folate)

Vitamin Profile Blood Test – Vitamin D, B12 & Folate in Neath

Our vitamin profile blood test checks three key nutrients in one visit: Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and Folate. A simple finger-prick blood sample is taken in our Neath clinic and analysed by London Medical Laboratory, giving you a detailed picture of your vitamin status.

What Does the Vitamin Profile Measure?

This profile measures:

  • 25-OH Vitamin D: important for bone health, immunity and mood.
  • Vitamin B12: supports energy, nerve function and red blood cell production.
  • Folate (Vitamin B9): works with B12 for healthy blood and cell repair.

Low levels of one or more of these vitamins are common and can contribute to tiredness, low mood, brain fog and anaemia.

Is This Test Right for Me?

The vitamin D, B12 & folate profile may be helpful if you:

  • Feel persistently tired, low in energy or “run down”.
  • Experience low mood, poor concentration or brain fog.
  • Follow a vegetarian, vegan or restricted diet.
  • Spend little time in daylight or always use high-factor sunscreen.
  • Have been told you have low iron or borderline anaemia.
  • Want a more comprehensive vitamin check than a single test.

How the Vitamin Profile Test Works

  1. Consultation: we discuss your symptoms, diet and any supplements or medicines.
  2. Finger-prick sample in clinic: a small capillary blood sample is taken from your fingertip by our trained team at The Health Dispensary in Neath. A £15 professional collection fee applies for this in-clinic service.
  3. Laboratory analysis: your sample is sent securely to London Medical Laboratory, where vitamin D, B12 and folate levels are measured.
  4. Results: you receive a detailed laboratory report, usually within around 7 working days, which you can share with your GP or other healthcare professional.
  5. Follow-up: we can arrange a consultation to explain your results and discuss next steps (supplements, diet and further tests) if you wish.

Understanding Your Results

Your report will show whether each vitamin is:

  • Deficient – likely to be causing or contributing to symptoms.
  • Insufficient – may benefit from targeted supplements or lifestyle changes.
  • Within range – levels are adequate for most people.

We explain your results in plain language and can advise on sensible supplement doses, diet changes and when to speak to your GP.

How This Differs from Our 15-Minute Vitamin Tests

Alongside this laboratory-based profile, we also offer 15-minute in-clinic vitamin tests. The vitamin profile blood test is ideal when you want:

  • A more detailed, laboratory analysis of multiple vitamins at once.
  • Results in a formal report you can share with your GP or specialist.
  • To combine vitamin D, B12 and folate in a single, lab-analysed test.

Related Tests and Services

This is a private, self-pay service. Vitamin blood tests support wellbeing but do not replace NHS investigations or urgent medical care. Please speak to your GP if you have severe or unexplained symptoms.
