EAR HEALTH & WAX REMOVAL

There are many factors that can affect our ear health including age, the misuse of ear buds, constant loud noises and the build up of wax. This can affect our ability to hear, and can cause additional social issues if not treated. As the NHS no longer offers this service (or there are long waits) our pharmacy is stepping into the gap and offering you a clinical service from experienced health professionals.

Diagnosis & Treatment in-house

Our Pharmacist & Pharmacy Health Technician are offering this service in-house with the help of innovative technology. This provides us with backup from ENT experts if we need further advice on your particular case. Infections as well as excessive & compacted wax can be identified & treated at our pharmacy in Neath.

Each appointment takes approximately 30 minutes. During the examination, high definition images and videos will be taken. This will identify any issues and whether or not you may require further treatment from specialist doctors. In most cases, the initial problem is simply the presence of excessive wax. This procedure could immediately improve hearing capabilities.

Ear Microsuction

Ear Microsuction is the safest and most effective way to remove earwax. It works by inserting a  probe safely into the ear. The probe has a low pressure suction to remove ear wax. Our pharmacist or trained Technician will use new technology to help them look into the ear canal and control the process safely.

This procedure is painless and does not involve any mess from squirting water or discomfort like syringing can.

What do I need to do?

If you suspect ear wax is the problem use an olive oil spray before your appointment – ideally for 5 days or more. If you have any pain or this product is not suitable for you please contact us so we can advise further.
